Hello World!
Welcome to my blog. This is the first post on my website. I'm very excited to share my thoughts, ideas and content with you all. I hope you find it interesting and engaging.
My name is Malcolm Gruber and I'm a software engineer. I've got a passion for technology and all things related to it. I love to learn new things and share my knowledge with others. This blog is my way of doing just that. I'll be writing about various topics related to software development, programming languages, web development, and more. I'll also be sharing things outside of technology from my other hobbies, such as wood working and building with Legos.
My experience in software, while it professionally started in 2011, I actually started writing software back in 2005. Starting with GameMaker, a game development tool, and made a few small games and participated in the community, contributing both scripts and pixel art. I then moved on to VB .NET where I had my first experience writing networked software.
In 2009, I started to attend Full Sail University where I earned my Bachelor's degree in Game Development and worked in teams to create a few games. It was an overwhelming experience to take 4 years of learning and condense it into 2 years. I also met some amazing people who have gone on to create some amazing games and software.
After graduating, I started my professional career as a software engineer. My career has taken me to various industries, such as video games, military, and VR. I've worked with a variety of languages and technologies, including C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, and Python. I've also worked with various frameworks and libraries, such as .NET, Angular, React, Node.js, Unity and Unreal Engine 4 & 5. And while my experience is broad, the one thing that stands out in my career is that I've been tasked in nearly every job with taking on a task that is novel in some way. I've fallen in love with that experience and it's what drives me to continue to learn and grow as a software engineer.
I'm excited to share my experiences and knowledge with you all. I hope you find my content helpful and informative. I also welcome any feedback or suggestions for future topics. Thank you for joining me on this journey.
